Accessing data on tapes

We have a number of tapes sent back to the scratch pool as a result of a large number of archive files having expired. We realize that we still need those archived files. Is there a way of accessing the data directly from these tapes? We have set aside these tapes and they have been checked out from the tape library.

One way to be able to read the data again is by restoring the TSM DB to a date prior to the expiration of the archived data. Preferable to an alternate TSM-server so you won't lose all backup-data on your production server.

This will allow you to retrieve the files and archive them again with a longer retention.
