Also remember, that some policies have to be configured based on a
"Policy Type". As mentioned, things like SQL, Exchange, SAP can only
contain those types of clients :-)

We use this type of a configuration for 90% of our clients. The big PRO
is ease of configuration. The big CON is that if a certain client needs
a special start time or special configuration options you can't
accommodate it. For this reason 10% of our clients get their own
policies. If the majority of your clients can all be configured
similarly... i.e. "All Local Drives" & Full backups on the weekends,
then this works great. If you've got special apps that require fulls
every 2nd Thursday and incmrentals on the weekends and daily cumulative
you are best grouping them into a single policy or setting up an
individual policy per client. This type of hybrid approach works
wonders here.

We're discussing creating two policies to backup all of our
clients...one for all Windows servers and one for all Unix servers. I
think this would make administration much easier. Can any of you give
me the pros and cons of using only one policy?

Thanks,
B
