Only way I can think of to do this is via bplabel; can only be done (well, should only be done) on expired media.

If doing it through the GUI, be sure to uncheck the "verify media label before continuing" box. Not 100% certain how to do it from the command line, but looks like the -o flag might accomplish the same thing.
