Hi Thierry,

Thanks. I've setup the Reporter at 7.00 every day using the following command line:

-s myserver.mydomain -D "MM/DD/YYYY" -q "9 weeks ago" -t 00:30 -hdle 730 -monitor

Probably I don't need "-monitor" because at this time, no one is working ;-)

As far I know the monitor tools can't be used for monitor the activity during the backup and see the results the next morning. The tools can be used only interactively. So, can I use NSR_REPORTER scheduled every 10 minutes with the following command line?

-s myserver.mydomain -once

Thanks for your help.

Bad idea. If one or more group finish when reporter is
still running, you may end-up in history corruption
and overload CPU. Who will look at graphs during night ?

Run it once/twice a day, depending of your needs.
Eg at 7:00 to have stats ready for 8:00 for your admins,
and during lunch time.

Do not neither set query period too big. It's a common
error : having long query period means lot of mem.
Shorter one (2-4 weeks is generally ok) is right, it gives
full backup details for 2-4 weeks but keep historized data
for longer time (350 days by def, can be extended).

A good tip :

if your nsr server is called networkersvr.my.domain,
setup a nsr_reporter -s networkersvr.my.domain for normal
query (eg 2-4 week). Schedule nsr_device_monitor
and nsr_lib_monitor using same "-s networkersvr.my.domain"
server name.

For on demand reporting or more focused one,
use a dummy server (eg -s networkersvr) in the reporting
cmd with specific client (add -c client_name).

For NRU, it will be 2 different folder structure under data\.....
and it keep prod reporting structure in clean state.

PS You may start it using notification

Thanks Thierry,

Nice to hear that. I'm running your latest version only for reporting
'on demand' using NSR_REPORTER.

Now I'm trying to setup NSR_REPORTER to be run after a backup completion
and NSR_MONITOR during the backup. Actually I'm playing with Task
Scheduler in Windows and events. Is there any easier solution for having
Legato start/stop these programs when an scheduled group is auto-started?

Thanks.

Is NRU500WIN-20090721_v4.msi the latest version for Windows?

I would look into a tool called networker reporter that a guy on this
list
wrote named Thierry. It is very customizable and gives you lots of detail
on
the jobs, devices, and tapes. It is completely free and runs on just about
any platform. Hope this helps sir.

Subject: [Networker] Tool/Software to Monitor my Networker Servers ????
Exist ???

Hi people,
Actually i'm working to improve my backup infrastructure (3 backup
servers
with windows and ndmp clients). I need to find an application software to
monitor from one console, all my backup servers and receive:

1. Graphics of my backups
2. Backups sucessfull and failed (including clone jobs)
3. Porcent of sucessfull in a month, year etc
4. Inventory all my backup items (libraries, server, tapes)

Exist an application to do that ??

Regards and thanks for your support

Daniel
