Did you also read my comment about your Windows tape drive?

It seems that you want to recover a standard NDMP backup (which is written to a 
NDMP device ... and must consequently be recovered from a NDMP device) from a 
non-NDMP device. This is not possible. However, the scanner process will in 
fact work - as you have verified yourself.
