Maybe it is not even installed. Check with dpkg or synaptic and make
sure it is installed. The package name is portmap. After that you should
probably use /etc/init.d/portmap start and make sure that you restart
the networker client after portmap is running, so it can register itself
with portmap (or you can do that the Windows way and simply reboot the
entire machine).
