I know NW can't do this (yet) but what about the change journal option you get
after installing client software ?
Is this not the option you want ? Lacking the ability to set a changed since
date ?
I'm thinking this option if possible would create huge tracking databases on
clients
I would see an advantage if this could come available maybe together with a
replication option in Sans so you could see how much has to be replicated to
come back in sync after DRS or with a-sync replication
Let's suggest it in NW 7.6.1

What I do miss from Arcserve is being able to backup all files 'updated since
ddmmyy date' or 'updated before ddmmyy date' etc
We're currently getting far too much included in Windows 2k8R2 backups of
DFS-replicated data, DFSR being configured as read-only

Quite interesting, but this is not possible with NetWorker for now.
Now lets assume that this be would wanted to be designed in a
backup product. What are the requirements that we might have to looking
into. For one, we will need a checkpoint to be created so that when
taking a backup is triggered the backup software knows what was changed
when, know in case we take a backup today and want to set the numeric as
yesterday (The last backup being a week back) and the file has changed
twice, once after the full backup but before yesterday and the once
between yesterday and today. Then again our requirement is not met cause
we wanted the changes to be backed only till yesterday but instead
backed up what was changed yesterday. Again that is not what we want
eh..

Kind of a goofy question, and I would never need to do this, but I'm
just curious if this is possible.
Can you run a numeric backup, but have it start with an older date? In
other words, capture all files since the previous lower numbered backup
but only up to, say, a week ago, and not up to the current time?
So, for example, if, as of the current time, there were 500 files that
have changed on a client since the last full, but as of a week ago there
were 419 files that had changed, then force the numeric to back up only
those 419?
If this is possible then I assume that a subsequent incremental should
still capture everything that's changed since the date/time that the
numeric was run because the date/time that the numeric ran would be
recorded in the media database, and the subsequent incremental would be
backing up any files newer than that date/time, correct? As result, it's
not like the next incremental would capture files that had changed since
a week before, or whatever time interval you forced that previous
numeric to not go farther forward in time than, right?
Thanks
George
