My understanding is that the patch is a special build of nsrmmdbd for Solaris and I mentioned was LGTsc24106. The EMC service request number was 28002672. A week ago Glasshouse told me that EMC does not have yet a patched nsrmmdbd for Solaris (only for Windows) and so I was probably the first one to ask for this patch for Solaris.

I installed what I am told was the patch last Thursday and it has not reverted the volretent values that already exist. I am running cloning now, so I'll know tomorrow if it is at least preventing new volumes from getting messed up.

Here's the what output:

/usr/sbin/nsrmmdbd:
         Product: NetWorker
         Release: 7.4.4.1
         Build number: 636
Build date: Wed Jan 28 20:15:02 PST 2009
         Build arch.: solaris7w
         Build info: DBG=0,OPT=-O2 -fno-strict-aliasing

This morning, I have 10 new tape volumes that were the SOURCE for creating some clones yesterday and their volretent has shifted to match the ssretent value. This fix has not fixed the issue in my environment.

Anyone able to report that it has fixed the problem in their environment?

I have notified EMC of my continued problems.
