We're running into the same issue, and are getting scsi bus resets which
is causing it.  You may want to check the fiber cards.  The symptom we
see in networker is that it can't mount a physical tape.

I am using 4 IBM-LTO 3 tape drives and status of all the drives was set
to enabled.

Today I saw 3 drives in the service mode. I manually changed the mode
back to "enabled"

But it automatically went back into "service" mode.

What could be the prob ?
