First off, thanks for all the great info on this site. Very helpful!
Please forgive me, as I am a newbie with NDMP. I understand that using the
<nsrndmp_save -T dump> command will copy data from an NDMP device to an
attached NDMP tape device.
In my configuration, this is from a FC attached Celerra NAS to a Scalar 24 that
is FC attached to my Windows 2003 backup server running Networker 7.4SP2. NDMP
backup to tape works wonderfully, it is lan-free and fast going over the FC
network.
The piece I have a question about is NDMP backup to disk, in my case an MSA1000
SAN that is directly attached to my backup server. I would love to be able to
backup my Celerra NAS to that MSA1000 lan-free as well, all over the FC
network, but when I use the -M option to do this, my backups go over the
Ethernet, not over FC.
Is this simply by design? Does NDMP to non-NDMP only work via Ethernet, and
there is no way to do this lan-free? I just want to make sure I'm not missing
something.
Thanks in advance
