We had Legato come in and write scripts to automate some of our
processes, and they used cygwin.   It works pretty well.    Since they
use it, I would say your company should let you.

Or install cygwin (http://www.cygwin.com).  I use both, so say from
experience that cygwin is MUCH MUCH MUCH easier to install and use than
Windows Services for Unix.

How about loading Microsoft's Windows Services for Unix

You get a ksh and everything.
