The Drive ? Numbers need to correspond to the physical order in the
jukebox... Otherwise networker will be putting tapes in the wrong drive
and maybe this is why jbverify fails - it can issue the unload to drive
2 for example, but then it tries to access /dev/rmt/2cbn there is no
drive at that SCSI address...

The /dev/rmt names in solaris do not necessarily correspond to physical
order... They represent the order in which the devices were discovered
originally. It sounds like you may have new SCSI addresses for some of
your drives, either by having their cables repatched to new buses, or
their target addresses have been changed on the library and/or drives.
If this is the case, see if you can get your drives back to their
original b.t.l addresses as this will be the easiest fix.

Otherwise, first thing is to get the drives visible to the O/S again:

Eg

# devfsadm -C -c tape

Then see what running 'inquire' turns up.... It should list all of your
tape drives. You should also be able to run the 'mt -f /dev/rmt?cbn
status' against each device sucessfully to prove they are accessable.

You can, if you want, delete the jukebox resource altogether, and run
jbconfig if you want it to be worked out automatically.... But then you
will have to do a full inventory on the library. An alternative is to
use jbedit to delete the three bad drive definitions, and then use
jbedit to add them back in the right physical order.

Subject: [Networker] jbverify error

All:

i am having some configuration issues with jukebox. I am using
Networker 7.2 on solaris 8. The drive and device mapping has changed.

part of nsrjb command ,

drive 1 (/dev/rmt/0cbn) slot :
drive 2 (/dev/rmt/2cbn) slot :
drive 3 (/dev/rmt/3cbn) slot :
drive 4 (/dev/rmt/1cbn) slot :

Like you can see,
now drive 2 maps to 2cnb. Earlier it was mapping to 1cbn.
Likes drive 3 and 4 are wrongly mapped.

I am not able to use drive 2,3 and 4.
How can I fix this.

I am enclosing the jbverify log below.

Thanks,
-Balki
