As it's been explained to me, the SOX folks don't care what your procedures
are, whether they're "necessary and sufficient", "generally recognized as
safe", etc., just whether they're properly documented.

In other words, SOX doesn't care if your retention is month, 90 days, year,
etc., just that the retention interval is documented and that you can prove
it's actually being done as documented.

A better example might be tape reuse and destruction. If you have a
document saying that a DLT tape is good for 100,000 mounts, they'd want to
see a procedure for checking the mount counts and logs of tapes destroyed
because their counts were over 100,000.
