The only time I've ever had problems with this was backing up some imagery
data (aerial photo mosiacs). Because the software had already compressed
the image, the hardware comperssion actually made the data bigger giving me
11GB of data maximum on a dds3 tape (12/24). This can happen when
re-compressing compressed data though. Doesn't seem to be a problem in
gerneral now though. different site though with different data.
