Refer to /usr/samples/tcpip/networks for a syntax information.
A word of caution here regarding use of /etc/networks
Be certain that your network names do not match Location names in NetView;
Do not put anything in location.conf that matches anything in /etc/networks and vice-versa.
Do not create a network named Backbone if you already have a Location named Backbone.
Refer to this previous post for a description of the Bizarre behavior that you will experience if this happens.

Hi Carlos,

Try to configure the file /etc/networks, its sintax is similar of the
/etc/hosts.
I don´t remember the order of the terms, if network name comes first or
ip_network_address comes first, try in this manner.

Eg.

172.172.20.0 network_x

Network_x 172.172.20.0

Netview 7.1
AIX 4.3.3

I have updated the /etc/hosts file and now all the devices shows their own
name in the Netview map, but I also want to set a name to the network
objects, I have updated also the network names in the hosts file, but it
doesn't work and if I assign manually the object name, Netview automatically
changes it to the ip address. Do you kniow if is there a way to set names to
the network objects???
