Mike,

While doing what you have done should change the label that shows up on the
map, it will not change the object name that is in ovwdb.   For this you
need to delete the device out of your NetView and discover it with the
interface that is in the DNS.  If it does not come back clean.  Then you
need to delete it again..and then do a database cleanup to make sure it is
out of the topology and map databases before you rediscover it.   It should
then have the name that you choose.

Also it is good to remember that NetView will always use the first
discovered interface for that device to send all SNMP requests to that
particular device.   This is helpful when you are configuring the community
strings in xnmsnmpconf.
