Seems I can (usually) perform a restore that will come close to
completing, sometimes will be totally complete ....

ie
tar restored #### of #### files successfully
tar kept 0 existing files
tar partially restored 0 files
=20
then the job will sit there for a while and finally fail with a status
5.

usually at that point, though I can ping the client, and telnet to the
BPCD port successfully, any attempts to connect to the machine by NB
will fail with a status 41.
