Re-Install the client,
then ping -t the master server from the client,
make sure that the Master server name is correct in the
Server Config, ping the client -t from the master server 
then use the clntcmd command from both- if all is well
then the source client needs a reboot. If the pings -t
work great then the master server name may be incorrect
in the client sttings, use the IP as the master - if so
and it works then the DNS conections may be slow or the 
WINS server is lagging - Check cables and ping away but first
re-load the client, turn on logging and try try again.

Network connection timeouts can also be caused by VSP
or OTM. Try disabling VSP or OTM and see if the backup
still gets the status 41.
