Are you doing this for capacity planning purposes?

Try this:

DATA_FULLS=DATA * (FULL_RETENTION / FULL_FREQUENCY)

Then take DATA_FULLS and divide that by the NATIVE capacity of your tapes to
give you the number of tapes required. If you get a high level of
compression, GREAT, but you should always plan based on the NATIVE
capacities.

If you want to calculate the Incrementals,

DATA_INCR=DATA * %OF_CHANGE * (INCR_RETENTION / INCR_FREQUENCY) -
(INCR-RETENTION / FULL-FREQUENCY) * (DATA * %OF_CHANGE)

This gives you the amount of data for the Incrementals minus the days that
the fulls run.

  Hello everyone,

  I'm using NetBackup 3,4GA with a Solaris Master and media Server and a
L700 Library. I'd like to be able to list how many tapes are available and
how much data I'll be able to backup. I'm using 9840 drives with 20 Gb
cartriges that appear to be able to store between 20 Gb and 150 Gb (?) as
listed by bpimmedia. We're multiplexing up to 4 clients to a tape and I
don't really know how to list how much data from each client is on a tape.
Does Advanced Reporter help me do that and do I need a license to use it? Is
there a way to get a graph in order to estimate how many more tapes I'll
need depending on how many more data to backup I'll have.

  Thanks

  Jerome Bauwens
