Hope this will be clear !!
Multistreaming is multiples flows coming from client at the same time.
Multiplexing is multiples flows coming to tape at the same time.
MPX of 1 mean ONE flow of data come from client to one tape.
MPX of 4 mean FOUR flows of data come from clients to one tape.
I don't know RMAN but I think this is the same way.
