This seems odd. I was re-scanning some old tapes that had a saveset
expired, so I could browse the contents (it's too big to just restore the
entire thing). The tapes were already in the media index, so I was just
doing "scanner -i -S <ssid>", to rebuild the file index for the one ssid I
am interested in. Now, these tapes came from a different NW server, but I
had previously used them, by creating a client entry using the client ID
from the old NW server, and then scanning them. I've done that a few
times - more than a dozen times - over the years.
(command was "scanner -s <servername> -i -S <ssid> \\.\<tape device>)
And I saw this, when I came in this morning:
29485:scanner: ssid 2706858332: scan complete
8830:scanner: (ssid 2706858332) index error, flush failed
8787:scanner: ssid 2706858332: 312 GB (of 312 GB, 692591 file(s)) written
39078:scanner: SYSTEM error: The operation completed successfully.
39078:scanner: SYSTEM error: The operation completed successfully.
And I still can't browse the saveset, even tho it looks like I should be
able to ....

SO, 2 questions:
1. Why can't I browse? I get the infamous "No savesets backed up during
the time frame you want" when trying to browse to a date slightly after
2007-05-25. I *should* be able to browse, if the index was properly
written, since the browse time hasn't been exceed, it's not expired, and
the saveset flags look OK.
2. Why would I get an error, especially one that says it completed
successfully? :-)
I am trying to avoid doing a saveset recover, listing the one folder name
I want (because I am not entirely certain of what the name is supposed to
be, hence the desire to browse ...). I suppose I could just start it up,
but I don't want to waste hours, only for it to fail because I have
inadvertently mis-spelled a folder name. Or it might fail because the
folder really doesn't exist on this tape at all.
Thoughts?
