Hi, Fabio,

If I understand you correctly, you have a set of clustered client
systems where you are running the NetWorker client software but you are
not running NetWorker server on the cluster itself; the NetWorker server
v7.2.2 is running on a separate system and "failing over" the NetWorker
server software is not an issue.

You should be able to get your cluster backing up successfully following
these guidelines:

You need the names of the physical servers and the virtual server.
Naturally, all must ping and resolve forward and reverse in DNS. You'll
need a client license for each, plus a cluster license.

Create client definitions for all the physical and virtual servers.

In the client definitions for Windows physical servers, you must define
the savesets explicitly, for example, C:\, E:\, SYSTEM DB:\, SYSTEM
FILES:\ and SYSTEM STATE:\. Use "Save set: All" when defining clients
for Unix physical servers.

You must list file systems explicitly for all virtual clients, both Unix
and Windows.

Update the Remote Access list in the client definition for each virtual
client. For a Windows client, add SYSTEM@<physical server> and for a
Unix client root@<physical server>. There must be an entry for each
physical server in every virtual server's client definition.

Good luck!

Subject: Configuring Networker in a cluster environment

Hi all, I'm new to this forum and I hope you can help me in solving the
following issue.

I have a unix server on HP-UX 11.23 on Itanium hardware configured as a
cluster member of a 2-nodes Veritas cluster 5.0

I need just to backup file system configured inside a Veritas Cluster
Service Group resources but I don't need to failover Networker client
from one cluster node to another.

I know there is no compatibility between my networker release (7.2.2)
and Veritas Cluster Server (5.0) so I configured networker client on the
physical node.

In your opinion, is that an admissible configuration from EMC point of
view or do I have to worry if I need any support?

Thank you in advance, Fabio
