i'm in the process of bringing a new networker server on-line. (sun
5240, replacing a sun 490). based on much of the grumbling here i had
been planning on continuing on with 7.2.2. davina's message was a
pleasant surprise this morning. is it the general consensus that 7.4.2
is ready for prime time?

We went from 7.2.2 to 7.4.2 last week. We've run into a couple minor
issues (a minor regression in nsrmm which I've reported and EMC has now
duplicated, and a couple instances of backups hanging and never timing
out), but overall 7.4.2 hasn't had any stability problems for us.

I don't like some of the design decisions that EMC made with regard to
what they've changed (primarily relating to the savegrp notification), but
stability hasn't been an issue.

It will take some time to come up to speed with NMC, but it also has been
both more responsive and less cumbersome than I remember from when we
first installed it.

Every environment is different, but I would say you're better off going
with 7.4.2 than you are staying with 7.2.2.
