I have never had enough disk space or time to track that information on my NetWorker server. Our backup retention period is three months. No one in any other department (or even my own) is required to provide projections on data growth. I just emailed my boss and asked him if we could at least buy one new tape cartridge per new server added this fiscal year. We do charge each department a fee each time they add a new server onto our nightly backup schedule and that fee is supposed to include the cost of new tape media, so I figured it couldn't hurt to actually use that money.
