The timeout value that i beleive you are talking about is group timeout 
value, which can be edited by right clicking group tab.
I do not belive index corruption is an issue here, sometimes a server can 
be overloaded amomg other reasons for it to stop transmiting data or get 
bogged down with other task, in windows world periodic reboot will take 
care of it, the solution ofcource is correcting underlying casue of 
frequest failures, increasing the group timeout value is one of it.
