What they did is now a part of the history of Bacula, and they are adding their version of what happened to Wikipedia. Why not just add your version of the events? If you aren't allowed to erase theirs, then they won't be allowed to erase yours, right?

As I have written, I did add my remarks and they kept resetting it, so rather than having a battle of who is right and wrong I just wanted to remove all remarks.

Now we are locked with only their remarks.

What happened sucks, but it makes for a colorful past - it makes Bacula more interesting. All publicity is good publicity.

Well, I don't feel very good about having people believe that Bacula is not 100% free.  It really kills me to read that I rejected community contributions because I said they were Enterprise features.  Maybe it is interesting reading, but for me, it destroys my reputation and my whole way of being.

Be magnanimous and take the high road, explain what happened in a professional manner without attacking or making accusations. That would be more profitable to you and to Bacula in the long run.

As I said, please point out where you have a problem with what I have written and I will make every effort to fix it.

The energy wasted in struggling with them on Wikipedia (or anywhere else) will not benefit Bacula.

True, but have you ever read the "Bible of Open Source"?  (that is my designation of it).  It is called.
"Homesteading the Noosphere", by Eric Stephen Raymond.

In particular read the chapters on "The Many Faces of Reputation" and "Ownership Rights and Reputation Incentives" and you will learn why reputation is so important and you will also see that Bareos violated two of the three Taboos and also why forking (contrary to certain common believe) can be so destructive.

The above article is for most people especially those who are not English mother tongue is very difficult reading, but it is a master piece, and though current opinion seems to run a bit contrary to what he says, I think it is still completely correct.

Besides, if Bareos doesn’t keep up with (or surpass) Bacula, it will simply fade away in time.

It seems to me very unlikely the above (Bareos surpass Bacula) will happen.  They currently have a single developer (look at the git commits, although there are some from other people, they are all "stripting" type commits).  Bacula has a team of paid programmers behind it.

Building a community of support and becoming as well known as Bacula cannot be a simple thing...

Above all it takes time and a lot of energy.

Best regards,
Kern
