Yeah, I try to keep stuff for a year, but it's hard.

I've done just that, with my brother's box.  It's a FreeNAS system,
and once he gets moving, I'll have remote access so I can push stuff
there, and eventually push his stuff to me as well.

Used, I'm cheap and this is home stuff, so I can't really crack the
wallet for the expensive stuff.
