hi, I spent quite a bit of work trying different approaches to find
the fastest way to do this in MySQL, and the result is included in

    gui/bweb/script/bweb-mysql.sql

it's essentially the same as yours, though, based on INSTR.
PostgreSQL users can look in

    gui/bweb/script/bweb-postgresql.sql
