See if this works. In /usr/lib/BackupPC/Lang/en.pm:

$Lang{Reason_backup_failed}  = "backup <font color="red">failed</font>";

Do the same for any other backup errors in the lang file. This is a hack
(this doesn't belong in the Lang data), but it's a fast way to do what
you want.
