Hi all,
Just when BPC was working so nicely it decided to not do so anymore.
So what happened? Well, seeing how the 100Mbps 3Com NIC struggled to shuffle
all that data from the Win-server, I decided to enable the integrated
gigabit-NIC on the BPC-server mobo. A reboot was suggested after, so I did it.
Next, all the daemons started nicely (I saw them as I pressed Alt-D at the
boot screen). Httpd asked for a password, as I've setup the BPC-web-GUI with
SSL, which I entered and the boot process continued.
When it came to BackupPC it stuck there. After having waited for some
10-15
minutes w/o much happening I pressed Control-Alt-Del and got some funny esc
code-characters or something as a result. Waited another 5 minutes and nothing
still happening. So I pressed and held the on-off button on the machine and it
shut down cleanly as far as I could see. Booted up in single user mode and
turned the BPC daemon off and rebooted again. Boot went fine and I got into
the GUI.
I checked the logs and found nothing in dmesg or messages.
/var/log/backuppc/LOG only mentions that a TERM signal was intercepted and
apparently shut down clean as well. The logs mention the raid5-array, where
BPC saves the data, was clean too, so no problems there.
I've now rebooted the BPC server with the BPC-daemon off and went back to my
admin workstation and ssh'ed in to the BPC server and gave the command
"/etc/init.d/backuppc start". This was some fifteen minutes ago.
I'm at a loss here right now. Can you guys please advise? Thanks.
