Hi --
I have a working setup running on fedora core 7/8/9. On my server, I am running
amanda-2.5.1p3-3.fc7
amanda-client-2.5.1p3-3.fc7
amanda-server-2.5.1p3-3.fc7
Someone built a debian server and I am trying to add it to my backups. amcheck
is happy, but amdump always fails. It is running
$ dpkg -l | grep amanda
ii amanda-client 1:2.5.2p1-1
Advanced Maryland Automatic Network Disk Arc
ii amanda-common
1:2.5.2p1-1 Advanced Maryland Automatic Network Disk Arc
an amandad log file is created, but nothing under /var/log/amanda/client
here is the /var/log/amanda/amandad log file

just for grins I ran
$ /sbin/dump 0SS /dev/sda1
3290419200
as amanda on the debian system and it seems to work.
I did have to make use amanda an alias for user backup since the debian install
seems to default to user backup but my server uses user amanda
ADVthanksANCE
