Aren't there a way to paralellized those samba backups ?
I think this is what you want (from man amanda):
maxdumps int
Default: 1. The maximum number of backups from a
single host
that Amanda will attempt to run in parallel. See
also the
inparallel option.
Note that this parameter may also be set in a specific
dumptype
(see below). This value sets the default for all
dumptypes so
must appear in amanda.conf before any dumptypes are defined.
