Sorry, I should have been more specific.

anders@anderslinux:~> ls -l /etc/amanada*
-rw------- 1 amanda amanda 58 2003-04-11 12:33
/etc/amanadapass
-rw-r--r-- 1 amanda amanda 0 2003-04-11 11:06
/etc/amanadates

Look carefully! There is an "a" too much: amanAda*
The program is called Amanda!

anders@anderslinux:~> grep aman /etc/inetd.conf
# amanda backup server with indexing capabilities
amandaidx stream tcp nowait amanda /usr/local/libexec/amindexd amindexd
amidxtape stream tcp nowait amanda /usr/local/libexec/amidxtaped
amidxtaped
# amanda backup client
amanda dgram udp wait amanda /usr/local/libexec/amandad amandad

Hello everyone, After several ours of searching the web I still cannot solve my problem. amcheck does not find the file in /etc. I am using inetd (not xinetd) to run the client locally. All the rights for the user (amanda.amanda) are correct. I am able to run all commands and read all the files from the command line.

What does "ls -l /etc/amanda*" say exactly?
What is the line in inetd.conf for amandad?
