Yep, I am using chg-zd-mtx.  Max drive wait is indeed at the default of 120.
This setting has worked in the past.  I think I forgot to mention that
that error id is for the changer and not the tape drive (which is on id=2).

It is an autopak 1x15.  The drive would eject the tape, the arm would grab
it and put the tape back, the arm would then move to the bottom and this
unexpected busfree error would show up once it reached bottom and
the taper algo just stops complaining with a partial mtx output:

amtape: could not load slot 2: mtx: Request Sense: Long Report=yes
