Normally, I'd try the FAQ... but.

In my backups I do 3 directories on a large disk via tar, which has historically worked fine. Last week, I added a fourth directory with tar, and now I cannot get a backup of one of the dirs!

To make more sense of that
/bkup1
/bkup2
/bkup3
/bkup4

For diagnostic, I have commented out everything in my normal cycle, and just run amdump once lvl-0 for each directory. bkup1 fails every time:

ultra /webhome/bkup1 lev 0 FAILED [no estimate]

There are no errors in /tmp/amanda files this box is both the server and client. What's interesting is that sendbackup.debug does not get written to when amdump'ing just that bkup1 directory! FWIW, permissions are the same across all, and the size of bkup1 is inline with the other's (i.e. plenty of tape!)

Some clipped lines from other debug files in /tmp/amanda:
sendsize.debug
Total bytes written: 12705822720
.....
sendsize: pid 22778 finish time Mon Dec 2 07:59:36 2002

amandad.debug:
amandad: sending REP packet:
----

OPTIONS maxdumps=1;
/webhome/bkup1 2 SIZE 12408030
----

amandad: got packet:

----

amandad: pid 22777 finish time Mon Dec 2 07:59:36 2002

Any thoughts??
