Hi Andy!
I have now added the following lines to the dsm.opt:

exclude.dir e:\[a-hj-z0-9$]*
exclude.dir e:\I[a-mo-z0-9$]*
exclude.dir e:\In[a-df-z0-9$]*
exclude.dir e:\Ine[a-su-z0-9$]*
exclude.dir e:\Inet[a-oq-z0-9$]*
exclude.dir e:\Inetp[a-tv-z0-9$]*
exclude.dir e:\Inetpu[ac-z0-9$]*
exclude.dir e:\Inetpub?*
Exclude E:\*

Yuck!!! Well, it's working but like you stated in an earlier mail: an
include.dir option would certainly be very nice!!
Thank you very much for your reply!
Kindest regards,

Eric,

As was pointed out earlier, EXCLUDE.DIR overrides all INCLUDEs.

This subject comes up every once in a while. See
http://msgs.adsm.org/cgi-bin/get/adsm0108/451.html for one possible
suggestion. Another idea would be to initiate a backup only for
e:\inetpub. For example:

   dsmc incremental e:\inetpub\ -subdir=yes

Andy

The only dumb question is the one that goes unasked.
The command line is your friend.
"Good enough" is the enemy of excellence.

Hi *SM-ers!
I must be doing something wrong. My PC (WinNT, 5.1.6 client) has a network
drive E:. I want everything but E:\Inetpub (and all underlying files and
directories) on E: excluded from the backup.
My dsm.opt contains the following lines:

INCLUDE "E:\Inetpub\...\*"
EXCLUDE.DIR "E:\...\*"
Exclude "E:\*"

However, the GUI shows all files and directories excluded and the backup
backs up nothing.
I'm lost...
