The only parameter supported for /ADSMAUTODELETE is
"DIR", "IS", or "*".  Where "*" means both DIR and IS.

The /ADSMAUTODELETE function handles deletion of Incrementals
and Differentials based on their parent Full or Copy backup.
That is, if the /ADSMAUTODELETE function deletes a Full or Copy
backup it will automatically delete any Incremental or Differential
backups associated to that backup.  That is, of course, because they
are worthless without their associated full or copy backups.

There is no way to use that command to just get rid of
just Incrementals or Differentials between the Fulls or Copys.

We use /adsmdelete:* /ifolder:42, it works great, better than the old Perl
script;  would like to know...has anyone tried the /adsmdelete:* -- but
with
characters other than the * (in order to delete the incrementals and
differentials between "full" backups, since we want different retention for
full backups -6 weeks- vs. the others -2 weeks)
As in...
        excdsmc /adsmdelete:is,*.diff /ifolder:14
        excdsmc /adsmdelete:is,*.full /ifolder:42


It does NOT work on my level...
