It looks like you got a few good responses. I especially like Reinhard's
explanation - I think I'll use that in MY presentations.

As for material, you can get hold of your IBM rep and ask him to give you
the ADSM presentation guide they have on the marketing disk. (I use to have
one, and a couple of others, but I made the mistake of "lending" them out!)

The way I've tried to get people to look at it here is to get away from how
they want BACKUPS. When they give me backup requirements, it is based on a
LOT of unstated assumptions. I will be visiting all of the various business
units and try to get from them their business requirements for RESTORING
data. The reason for backups is to be able to restore, so, what data has to
be restored under what kind of scenarios? You tell me that and I can set up
ADSM to do it.

I am a great fan of ADSM's incremental forever design. However, I sometimes
have difficulty explaining the concept to users, particularly those IT
people who are used to the traditional meaning of an incremental backup
(i.e. something which has to be used with previous incrementals and a full
backup).
Does anyone have any material that they are prepared to share which
explains
the incremental forever concept in an easily understood manner? Anything
would be much appreciated since it is bound to be better than my attempts
so
far!!
