Peter,
I don't have anything printed though Kelly went into some detail in our
student guide. I haven't found anything other than face to face interaction
that can change a person's mind. The problem is that "incremental" is a
dirty word in backup parlance - the more incrementals you have, the longer a
restore will take.
One thing that's really helped - ADSM always has a full backup of every file
system in your environment. Although I wouldn't ever depend on it in a
production environment, I explain that I can give the non-believer a tape
with a backup of all his disks on it (export node) or any subset that he
would want. Not only can I do it right now, I can give him a full backup as
of yesterday, the day before, etc. - back as far as my policy allows. This
seems to calm a non-believer down to the point where they will at least talk
through the rest of the issues.
So instead of touting "incremental forever", I lead with "forever full". It
dulls the sting of that dirty "incremental" word.
