     Hello,

I too have noticed some oddities with the 3494:

     1) I'll agree that CHECKI LIBV only does one at a time. I'm doing
checklabel=yes because, well you never know. I consider the single
threading a feature so as not to acquire all of the defined drives. I
have not noticed if the CHECKIN is preventing mounts from occurring.

     2) HOWEVER, I have run across a problem where when doing multiple
CHECKOUTs and the output station fills, all media mounts stop and
therefore client sessions begin to fail with a media unavailable (I
don't have the exact message). At the time there are more ejects
     queued in the library.

     3) We have 3490e-C2A's which are scsi attached. I have noticed on
several occasions that if a dismount fails in one drive, the other
drive on the same controller becomes 'boxed' to use MVS terms. IE all
commands going to the 2nd drive failed until I paused the 3494,
not-readied, unloaded, and readied the first drive. The 2nd drive
     immeadiately began to respond.

I use the following command to check scratch tapes into the library and
the 3494 doesn't mount any of the tapes...

checkin libvolume 3494LIB01 status=scratch search=yes checklabel=no
devtype=3590
