My server is AIX 4.1.4, ADSM 2.1.10. I just observed (and
repeated in hopes that I was just on drugs the first time) what
seems to be a bug:

res -la -rep=no "/vmunix*" /usr/apl totally disregarded the

sourcefilespec and began restoring whatever files it pleased to
the destinationfilespec: in my case, about 50 directories--none
of which contained vmunix in the pathname--before my brain
kicked in and I cancelled it.

This behavior seems bizarre since the restore performed as
expected without the double quotes, which the manual indicates
one should use. Furthermore, the double quotes worked fine,
as expected, when I masked subdirectories instead of filenames
and when I used the q ba command rather than the
restore command; i.e., only files in the path specified by the
sourcefilespec.

Has anyone else observed such oddities? I'll call it in, but I'd still
be curious if anyone else has experienced this.
