How about getting this in the AIX world...

     WHY you ask....

Because to backup our Novell environments we fire up 6+ (yes six)
     "load dsmc incremental SYS:"
     "load dsmc incremental APPS:"
"load dsmc incremental DATA1:" thru DATAn
we do this to maximize thruput (speed, turn-around-time, whatever...)
then ADSM has the audacity to put all the data on a single tape unless
     I code things like:
     "load dsmc incremental -node=XYZSYS: SYS:"
     "load dsmc incremental -node=XYZAPPS: APPS:"
     "load dsmc incremental -node=XYZDATA1: DATA1:"
and we know each -node requires a seperate license !
     OH HOW SPECIAL..........
so 100 novell servers (adsm clients) with 10 volumes per machine will
require me to have 1,000 licenses (OH YES, MY HOW EXTRA SPECIAL)

Oh, I need to mention that the backups aren't the problem because they
go to a disk pool... it is when a server dies and they go to restore
the entire thing and can only run one restore at a time because, as
mentioned before, all the data is on one tape.
(all together now, "OH, HOW SPECIAL")

Ok, I really shouldn't be this hard on IBM because the novell speed is
just from IBM/ADSM being novell certified and using all their I/O
routines. Actually I will go as far as to say "Thank you IBM for
working at correcting another's problem" PLEASE HURRY !

     later
          Dwight

I can issue the command UPD STG * COLLOCATE=FILESPACE for my ADSM/MVS server 2.1
.09 but yesterday I read that one needs 2.1.10 to do this.
Does it actually work at my current level or do I need to upgrade?
Q STG * F=D shows 'Collocate?: Filespace' afterwards.
Kindest regards,
Eric van Loon
