That's capital I as in IT. The -Ix should give the address table and it -ix should give the interface table.
There are some devices that do not report the address table. Netview has trouble discovering multiple interfaces on them.

According to the man page, The -l option is only valid with -e option, not with the -x option. For more information
man rnetstat

I have no idea. That's a local issue. but perhaps you can get netmon to tell you.

Try putting that IP address in the seed file as the first entry. The turn on the full netmon trace
netmon -M -1
Then tell netmon to reload the seed file
netmon -y
and watch what happens in the netmon.trace file for that IP address.

Turn off the trace with
netmon -M 0

In addition to what Bill said.....

If it were a router, Netview would have used the connector symbol by default. What you see indicates that Netview has not been able to talk SNMP to this device to determine that it has multiple IP addresses, so it made it a plain node.

If, on the other hand, what you have discovered is a layer2 switch that only has one IP address, then Netview will not promote it to the top level of the map or give it a connector symbol even if it is SNMP. To tell the difference, look at the object information: Tools...Display Object Information. See if it is really SNMP supprted, and if so, what is its SNMP sysObjectID.

RE: [NV-L] Reg Discovery

The default symbol selected when the object is discovered depends on the
relationships of the Object Identifier (OID) found in the
/usr/OV/conf/oid_to_xxxx files and various files in the /usr/OV/bitmaps,
.../symbols and .../fields files.  It's covered in the books.

It's easier to select your node symbol and use the RightMouseClick and
Edit->Change-Symbol-Type service on the classic console.  It's very
similar to how you create an icon manually.

Hi,

I am trying to discover a router, i have mentioned the IP address of
that router in netmon.seed file, netview can able to discover that
object but the object iam getting doesnt represent the router (
connector ) symbol, it shows a node symbol, what i have to do now. That
comes within segment. Please advice me on this. Iam using Netview
7.1.4.4 in AIX.

Thanks & Regards
