In addition to what Bill
said.....
If it were a router,
Netview would have used the connector symbol by default. What you see indicates
that Netview has not been able to talk SNMP to this device to determine that it
has multiple IP addresses, so it made it a plain node.
If, on the other hand, what you have discovered is a
layer2 switch that only has one IP address, then Netview will not promote it to
the top level of the map or give it a connector symbol even if it is SNMP. To
tell the difference, look at the object information: Tools...Display Object
Information. See if it is really SNMP supprted, and if so, what is its SNMP
sysObjectID.

The default symbol selected when the object is discovered depends on
the relationships of the Object Identifier (OID) found in
the /usr/OV/conf/oid_to_xxxx files and various files in the
/usr/OV/bitmaps, .../symbols and .../fields files. It's covered in the
books.
It's easier to select your node symbol and use the
RightMouseClick and Edit->Change-Symbol-Type service on the classic
console. It's very similar to how you create an icon manually.

router, i have mentioned the IP address of that router in netmon.seed file,
netview can able to discover that object but the object iam getting doesnt
represent the router ( connector ) symbol, it shows a node symbol, what i
