activated? that seems to be the issue, I was creating new smart sets
and seeing nothing in in them. So how do I acitvate?

(reminds me of the old cartoon "wonder twin powers - activate! shape of
the internet!")

No restart of nvcorrd, or any other daemon, required when creating
SmartSets. SmartSets are dynamic collections, so rules that are running
will see all additions/removals from a SmartSet as they occur.

However, when creating a *new* SmartSet, it does need to be activated
using the NetView interface.

do you need to restart nvcorrd if you use the smartset editor to do
that?

thanks!

Look at the object info for a node. Nodes don't have a field 'IP
Address'. That's an attribute of an interface. So you are getting a list
of Selection Names of interfaces or Networks.
Nodes do have a field called 'SNMP ipAddress'.

[NV-L] Making a smart set based on ip's

I tried making a smartset based on ip's:

nvUtil e '("IP Address" ~ "19.39.*.*")'

But the results that I get are not nodes but something else:
sdg100344q3b1.itek.ford.com:19.39.25.75
sdg100g3tfmb1.itek.ford.com:19.39.40.103
SEP001380AD917D.itek.ford.com:19.39.50.110

How do I make a smartset, based on a range of ip's, AND get actual nodes
in it? Thanks in advance
