Re: [nv-l] Smartset discovery

I have a smartset that I have the Smartset
Editor definitions set to search for ~10.10.. and it resolves the
ip addresses on MOST of the discovered nodes. SOME comein to the smartset
as hostnames though. That is my confusion...
Object info displays IP Address:servername.domain.com
First the IP then the fully qualified
domain name for our domain. Very strange

Are you saying that the nodes represented in the Smartset have labels that
are IP Addresses? And the node names do actually resolve in DNS? I cannot
think how this is possible. If you locate the same node in the IP Topology,
does it have a name there, or is it also labeled with an IP Address?
When you display the object information for a node (tools...display Object
Info), what is the Selection Name? If you ping the expected DNS name from
the commandline, does it resolve, or not? Neview only uses name resolution
for labeling.

I have created a new smartset in V7.1.3 on Solaris and I want the labels
of the resolved objects to display as the actually node names and not the
IP addresses, these objects should be DNS resolvable and are for the most
part Servers of mixed OS (Solaris/Windows 2K/Linux etc)
