Mike,
The seed file is a list of devices you want Netview to discover either by hostname or IP. You edit it manually or like Dietmar Gaulhofer said by going into the ServerSetup :
Configure --> set options for daemons --> set options for topology , discovery, and DBs --> set option for netmon daemon and click on the Edit button where it says Full name of seed file.
Or you can edit it manually under /usr/OV/conf.
With this you can tell Netview if you want to limit your discovery to whatever you put in this file. If you edit it manually theres very useful information to read there. (Comments).
