RE: [nv-l] Netmon not discovering certain objects

Sorry if that
wasn't clear. Thought you wanted to know if this has been seen at other
sites, so was just letting you know we've seen it here too. I agree it's a
problem.

Thanks Karen. I am researching but this looks like a
problem to me. I am pretty solid knowledge wise on discovery and this just
looks like it's broke. I'll keep digging.
We've seen
devices in the seedfile not being discovered. Netview 7.1.4, FP1, AIX 4.3.3,
pmr 74317.
Netview v7.1.4
Fixpack 1
Solaris 2.8
Greetings, I Just got off the phone with support and I'm wondering
if anyone else has seen this. I had certain nodes in my seed file that I
could not seem to discover. After the usual recovery efforts (ovtopofix -A
and ovmapcount -a and netmon tracing etc) support had me remove using
ovwdbdelete 2493 objects stuck with the "REMOVED" label on them when I did
an ovobjprint.
As my discovery is nothing fancy, and my network is only medium
size, I 'm wondering if anyone else is seeing this.
I wrote a PERL program to validate everything in my seed file was
discovered correctly and these nodes came up as passing the checks for
DNS, pingability, SNMP access but were not in topology. So, this could
have been going on a while but I just haven't
noticed.
