There is nothing strange here from NetView's point of view. Some agent
sent something to port 162/udp on the NetView box, and from the UDP header
that device was 10.39.0.11 the first time and 101.62.0.2 the second time.
Something was wrong with the format of what was sent, so trapd knows it is
not a valid trap and it sends this message. If this continues, you can
have trapd run with the -x option to hex dump all packets to the
trapd.trace file and toggle the trace on and off using "trapd -T" from the
command line to have trapd capture what was sent. Then you can look at the
trace and try to decipher it or call IBM Support from assistance with it.

Whether 101.62.0.2 is in your network or not, that's where this invalid
thing seems to come from.

Hello,

running Netview 7.1 on AIX 4.3.3.

there is a strange message in my trapd.log, it says:

T WARNING: invalid SNMPTrap packet from agent 10.39.0.11 source A pid -1
T WARNING: invalid SNMPTrap packet from agent 101.62.0.2 source A pid -1

surprisingly, address '101.62.0.2' does not exist in our network.

Anyone a clue of what this means ?

Thanks.
Bernard Baudoux,
Fortis Banque.
