It sounds like you are experiencing name resolution timeouts.
If this machine does not have a network connection, make certain that you are not configured to use a DNS!
Rename your /etc/resolv.conf to something else.

I have test to send an event with the event command. The event arrived in
the control desk but after a long time ( 5 or 10 mn of delay).
But i have seen also in the trapd.log lots of event such as routeur
unreacheable which doesn't appear on the control desk. Normally they should
appear in the control desk because, I filter nothing.

This netview server is a pre-prod machine and doesn't have a network
connection. Can this be the problem???

Deleting objects from the object database has no effect on whether or not
events display.

Current events are those which are held in the in-memory cache of the
daemon, nvserverd.  When you ovstop all the daemons or just him, that
cache is cleared.  So if you have just started all the daemons and you do
not see any events, it may simply be that none have been received yet.
Netmon will not send traps until after the fully initializes and finishes
his config checks.

You can check to see if everything is working by just sending a dummy
event.
        event -h dummy1
will send a Node Up event for a host with the name of "dummy1" to the
event window (assuming you are displaying Node Ups, as almost everyone
is).
If you see it, then all is fine and you just have to wait for new events
to come it.

If you are running under the control desk in ovw, you will not see any new
events in the event window until map synchronization is complete.

Hello,

Netview 6.0.3
AIX 4.3.3

I have deleted severals object in my object database with the command
ovwdbdmap -d "IdOfObject"
I use this command because they was neither in the topology database nor
on
my map, it was the only solution to remove them.

After this commands when i make an ovstart everything is running properly
but there is no more event in my control desk on the Netview GUI.But ican
see them i the trapd.log file.

Does someone has an idear of what is happenning?
Is it only a display problem.
